Types of Spacecraft
Robotic spacecraft are specially designed and constructed systems that can function in specific hostile environments. Their complexity and capabilities vary greatly and their purposes are diverse. To make some sense of all these variables, this chapter arbitrarily designates eight broad classes of robotic spacecraft according to the missions the spacecraft are intended to perform:
- Atmospheric Spacecraft
- Observatory Spacecraft
- Flyby Spacecraft
- Orbiter Spacecraft
- Rover Spacecraft
- Lander Spacecraft
- Penetrator Spacecraft
- Communications & Navigation Spacecraft
For a chromatic effect, layer the Left and Right versions of Stenciletta in Regular or Bold. Here's how:
Create a new layer using Stenciletta Regular Left.
Copy the first layer, creating a new one in the same position. Change the font to Stenciletta Regular Right.
Change the color of the font on each layer as you please. That's it, bill the client now.
Stenciletta by Joachim Müller-Lancé is a monolinear type design with bridges (the little gaps) placed where thinner lines would otherwise be. Evoking an air of mechanical engineering, construction, and cargo shipping, the distinctive slanted bridges of Stenciletta are parallel to the downstrokes, lending an interesting consistent texture somewhat like diagonal stripes.
Embracing the endearing aesthetic of having been created by engineers, like many early signage alphabets were, Stenciletta is constructed strictly from circles and straights in a limited set of angles on a square grid, without overshoot.
The Stenciletta family includes Regular and Bold weights with two-color and solid versions of both weights (eight fonts total).
